Project

This project proposes the creation of hydrogen and the management of transport in the NH3 storage system in solid state (powder, grain or pellets) that meets the following characteristics:

No NH3 emission at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature (up to 50ºC)
100% recyclable solid state material (the same ammonia material is loaded and discharged without degradation), non-toxic, environmentally friendly, non-flammable and non-reactive with water.
High energy density of the loaded material: between 40% and 50% (theoretical maximum) by weight of the material will be NH3, which represents between 7% and 8.8% by weight of H2.
“Negative” charging energy: the system provides energy by charging NH3 into the solid state material, specifically at least 0.8 kWh/kg of stored NH3 (theoretical energy without losses).
Maximum discharge energy (NH3 extraction) of 1 kWh/kg of extracted NH3, which represents a net energy of 0.2 kWh/Kg or 3.4% of total energy losses on the H2 content of the NH3.

That is, it is about achieving a SAFE AND NON-TOXIC system both in storage, handling and transportation, with a HIGH energy DENSITY (40%-50% by weight of NH3) and with a MINIMUM ENERGY NEED, 3.4% of that contained by the treated NH3.
